Shock Wave Therapy

Shock wave therapy is a cutting edge non-invasive treatment used to treat myriad musculoskeletal conditions such as tendonitis, bursitis, partial muscle and tendon tears, and plantar fasciitis to name a few. It is a highly effective treatment that uses high intensity sound and pressure waves to stimulate healing and repair to the affected area, reducing inflammation and pain. Shock wave therapy is regenerative in nature, helping to promote healing by stimulating and accelerating the body’s natural healing and repair processes. It is a non-invasive, safe and effective treatment option, and can be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore functionality. SMC offers both Radial and Focused shockwave therapy (ESWT, EPAT).

Dry Needling

Myofascial trigger points and tender points may occur in soft tissue, creating painful sites and dysfunctional myofascial activity.  These sites may reflect abnormal nervous system activity associated with many neuro-musculoskeletal conditions that are treated in our office. Dry Needling is a useful tool for diagnosing, treating and monitoring changes in tissue that may be associated with some of your complaints.  One or more sterile, monofilament needles may be used and the procedure may be performed during more than one office visit. The number of needles and frequency of treatment is variable depending on the individual, his/her anatomy, history, activity level, occupation, etc and will depend on your condition at each office visit.
